Exhibition:
Envy: One Sin, Seven Stories, an Installation by Adrien Broom, is on view through Sept. 27. Envy is presented in fairy tale interpretations, making evil stepmothers, plotting kings, and pompous queens come alive in photographs, life-size stage sets, and three dimensional art.
Planetarium Shows:
Saturdays and Sundays in August
12:30 Perseus and Andromeda
The stars tell the story of beautiful Andromeda, who is punished by the gods for her mother’s bragging, sacrificed to a sea monster, and then rescued by Perseus. Ages 5+, 25 minutes, + Q & A
2:00 The Sky Tonight
A live tour of the skies as seen from Earth, and of our corner of the universe. Includes constellations, the visible planets, and other topics. Ages 8+ 45 – 60 minutes
3:30 Moons: Worlds of Mystery
Where are the moons? What do they do? Follow the astronauts to our silvery moon, then journey to the outer planets to discover more moons. Come back to earth with new found wonder for the dynamic solar system where we live. Ages 8+, 35 minutes + Q & A

Gallery Stage – A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Sunday, August 2 & 9, 1 and 3 pm
Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival performers bring the galleries to life with a 30 minute production on one of three stage sets. In this story, an envious King conjures magic and mischief to win his queen back. Free with Museum admission.
Performance: Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters
Saturday, August 15, 5 pm
An African tale of Envy presented by Youth Theatre Interactions tells of two beautiful girls who react in different ways to the king's search for a wife. Free with Museum admission.
Gallery Stage – Cinderella
Sunday, August 16 & 23, 1 and 3 pm
Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival performers bring the galleries to life with a 30 minute production on one of three stage sets. In this tale, a wicked stepmother and envious stepsisters force Cinderella to serve them. A fairy godmother, a royal ball, and a glass slipper turn the tables. Free with Museum admission.
Family Studio: Arts and Science Projects
Saturdays and Sundays in August.
1 – 4 pm
Creative activities inspired by the Museum’s collections and exhibitions, led by Junior Docents and arts and science professionals. Free with Museum admission.
On Saturdays, as the New Horizons spacecraft reaches Pluto, see new information added to the giant globe in the gallery.
On Saturday and Sunday fairy tales are taking over the Museum, like the stories in our Summer exhibition Envy: One Sin, Seven Stories. Make a costume crowns or hats in the Family Studio.
Decorate our courtyard with Fairy Houses! Use environmental materials like pinecones and grass to build houses from your favorite fairy tales. Each weekend build a new house with new materials.

An Iliad

Adapted from Homer’s original epic, the “Poet” tells a tale of heroes, battles, and ancient fury.
Raiders of the Lost Ark

Archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is hired by the US government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis. Hear from a real archaeologist about her work with the past before the show begins.
