Follow chef Einav Gefen as she explores where great taste comes from.

Coming up with meal ideas that use healthy, natural ingredients but don’t demand too much time or effort to prepare is a challenge familiar to families all over the world. And it’s something that Knorr chef Einav Gefen knows more about than most. A mother, a professionally trained chef and a self-confessed food fanatic, Einav has worked with Knorr for years, developing products that make mealtimes easier.

"The mission for me is that these women, when they cook dinner, create a success. The kids sitting around the table either ask for more or finish their plates," she says. But Knorr isn’t just about convenient cooking. Einav is equally passionate about the brand’s sustainability mission – and its commitment that 100% of its agricultural raw materials will be sustainably sourced by 2020.

As one of the world’s leading buyers of ingredients, such as tomatoes, onions and herbs, Knorr is working with suppliers to help them improve yields, preserve biodiversity on their farms, and invest in technology that helps them save water.

The Knorr Partnership Fund also puts nearly $1 million a year into grants to help farmers grow their businesses and their crops more sustainably, with the brand recognizing that ingredients taste better when they’re naturally, carefully grown.

"If we were not being responsible about where our ingredients come from and how they’re grown, enabling and helping the farmers who grow for us to do it sustainably, my kids would suffer the consequences," says Einav.

And when it comes to the value of sustainable sourcing, Einav is clear: "I can make a small impact in my life. And the impact Unilever can make, because we source so much, is huge."
