This hour-long original production written by Bernie Garzia and composed by John Glaudini whisks the audience away on an extraordinary journey through the stages of the Monarch butterfly’s life. Witness Mari go from bug to beautiful with some guidance from some interesting characters along the way. You will meet a friendly ladybug, a surprisingly cute worm, a groovy spider, a red robin contemplating a vegan diet, the illustrious Edna the Praying Mantis and several others along the migratory path to Mexico. Ending back in the States, where we started, with a new marvelous egg completing the circle of life.

Behind the scenes of this production is our founding artistic director, Lois Bohovesky, along with choreographer Edward Winslow, puppet designer and creator Peter Bohovesky. Also building puppets are Lois Bohovesky and Lisa Mahoney. Set design and painting sets/puppets are Rand Angelicola and Lisa Mahoney, and graphic designer, Lisa Mahoney.

The character voices include Tyrone Aiken, Lois Bohovesky, Ted Forlow, Bernie and Tanya Garzia, John Glaudini, Joy Magyawe, Jeanine Otis, Kate Scott, Judy Stadt and Edward Winslow.

Our talented cast for this performance is Kevin Abrams, Jeffrey Davis, Natalie King, and Emily Vetsch.

The Rittenhausen Theater is in the heart of Nyack housed in the old Nyack high school situated across from Nyack Hospital on Midland Avenue. While one would think that the theater might just be a typical high school auditorium, a pleasant surprise awaits, as upon entry the first thing to greet the eyes is the beautiful two-story draped windows framed by architecture typically home to many ‘real’ stately theaters. Several large chandeliers generously light the red upholstered comfortable seating rows, which are tri-sectioned into the front and rear orchestra, and the balcony. The front and rear seating are most accommodating to any that stairs are a problem to, along with a roomy section up front for wheelchair accessibility. The theater while large enough, holding about five hundred seats, is intimate enough that clear stage view is excellent from any seat.

Hudson Vagabond Puppets is a 501(c)3, non-profit theatrical organization, while in existence for thirty-four years; we are starting a new chapter in our company life. We are reintroducing ourselves to our own Rockland County community, celebrating with a few small surprises at this show one being a few door prizes.

Come join us, it will be a fun, colorful, unique, live children’s theater performance that guaranteed, children will remember! (And on the down low, it’s educational to boot!)
