Our calendar is full of family friendly events! We know it's cold outside, so look for the calendar for fun indoor events for all ages. Be sure to tell everyone that New City Nyack Macaroni Kid sent you!

We don't usually post anything super personal in this welcome letter, but this year we're going to try to share a little more about ourselves, our thoughts and our families so that you can get to know us a little better.

We will use this space to share some of our thoughts, quick stories, tips, things we are learning as full time teachers, moms of young kids, wives to amazing husbands and great friends.

So my daughter (age 5) said, "Mommy, you're annoyed a lot." I was shocked and a little sad, and I wanted to be annoyed by her comment (LOL), but I said, "What do you mean? When is Mommy annoyed?" It was clear that she wasn't sure what to say, but she said, "All the time."

Wow! I tried to remember all the times that I was annoyed in the past few days. I was annoyed when she hung onto my back and grabbed my hair. I was annoyed when she was grabbing onto my shirt while I was carrying the laundry down the stairs. I was annoyed when our youngest (almost 3) dropped a meatball on the kitchen floor. I was annoyed when I had to ask our oldest (age 8) to practice piano several times in a row. I was annoyed when my fish didn't turn out the way I expected it to for dinner. So, YES, my daughter is right -- I spent a lot of time being annoyed in the past day!

So what am I going to do about it? Before saying our prayers at night, I told her I was sorry for being an annoyed Mommy. "I don't want to be an annoyed Mommy, I want to be a happy Mommy, a loving Mommy and a fun Mommy." She replied, "Sometimes it happens to me too." I told her I loved her and I prayed for her. I prayed also for myself -- for more patience, more kindness and more love. Let's not stress over the little things. Let our words be gentle and kind. Let us remember to show them love.

Thank you for supporting New City Nyack Macaroni Kid -- remember to share us with all of your friends. Like us or friend us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter & Pinterest!
