Free Programs at Rockland County Libraries

By Gentry Schany, Publisher, Macaroni Kid New City-Nyack May 1, 2017

The library has always been my go-to for cookbooks and the latest Janet Evanovich release, but it wasn't until I had kids that I realized how rich their programming is for children, especially here in Rockland County.

All of our libraries offer free programs for kids. These provide excellent opportunities for our children to meet and learn in a safe environment. It's also a great chance for caregivers to enjoy the company of their kids ... and other adults! I know I find myself needing to talk to another grown-up on many occasions!

Many of the libraries offer teen programming, as well! Crafts, movies, yoga, robotics, reading clubs, and teen advisory committees are just a glimpse of the choices teens have. Many of the teen programs even offer community service hours. How convenient!

I spent the last week researching all of our library events and added the (currently) open ones to our calendar with a short explanation of each. While there are many drop-in programs available, several of the library programs do require advance registration. I've done my best to list them with links to allow you to register as easily as possible! There are more than 200 events listed in May! Check back often for more.

The libraries covered by the Macaroni Kid New City-Nyack edition include Haverstraw King's Daughters (Garnerville and Haverstraw), New City, Nyack, Rose Memorial (Stony Point), Tomkins Cove, Valley Cottage, and West Nyack. Check out the calendar and have some fun!
